Gastric Sleeve
A gastric sleeve is a weight loss procedure that permanently reduces the size of the stomach. With a smaller stomach, patients are forced to eat less, which in turn helps them lose weight. Gastric sleeve surgery is performed laparoscopically, that is, through one or more small incisions in the abdomen. During the operation, a bariatric surgeon removes most of the stomach and then reconnects the ends of the lining to make the stomach smaller and more tube-like. This operation is indicated for extremely obese patients that may not benefit from other kinds of weight loss surgeries. In the US and UK, a gastric sleeve may cost upwards of $40,000 or £30,000. Overseas, this procedure is much more affordable.

Bariatric surgeons in Mexico and Costa Rica can perform the gastric sleeve for $11,000 or £8,000. Many doctors in Latin America have medical degrees from the US and UK, and most doctors and nurses speak English. Hospitals are clean, bright, and equipped with the most modern instruments. Surgeons are experienced and skilled in the use of endoscopic tools and imaging devices, so patients can be assured their surgery will have a low risk of complications. Total recovery time for gastric sleeve surgery is one or two weeks, and staying in Latin America is very inexpensive.

In South Korea, the gastric sleeve procedure only costs $9,500 or £6,000. South Korean surgeons are trained in the latest endoscopic techniques, and hospital workers are caring and compassionate.
