Intracytoplasmic sperm injection, often referred to as ICSI, is a fertility treatment in which the doctor inserts a sperm cell directly into an egg. The procedure is most often indicated for male infertility issues, such as low sperm count or weak sperm. In the US and UK, ICSI treatments can cost around $6,500 or £4,300, but most fertility treatments, such as ICSI, are not covered by insurance. However, fertility doctors in Latin America and other developed countries can perform this procedure for much less.
In Argentina, the average price of ICSI is around $4,000 or £2,700, 38% less than in the US or UK. Medical services in Argentina and Mexico are among the most advanced in the world; both Argentina and Mexico boast many research hospitals where fertility doctors study the latest treatments. Fertility clinics that perform ICSI are clean, modern, and staffed with caring nurses and doctors who speak English. Many fertility doctors in Latin American countries have studied medicine in the US or the UK. ICSI has been performed in Latin America since the procedure was developed nearly 20 years ago.
